International Year of Mineralogy 2022

The International Mineralogical Association (IMA) has proclaimed 2022 as the Year of Mineralogy. This worldwide action, aims to emphasize the relevance of mineralogical issues in our everyday life. Different activities take place, which aim at the importance of mineralogy. Also at our Museum Mineralogia Munich there will be extra events. So be curious to see what else will happen with us in this regard. The activities run under the auspices of the International Year of Basic Science for Sustainable Development proclaimed by UNESCO.

The official launch of the Year of Mineralogy was in July 2022 at the 23rd General IMA Meeting in Lyon. PD Dr. Melanie Kaliwoda and Dr. Malte Junge were present at this meeting. Both hold offices at IMA as the German speaker and as chair of the International Commission on Ore Minerals, respectively.
