July 2025 – Conichalcite

Our mineral of the month for July is – drum roll – conichalcite. This rather rare mineral forms as a secondary mineral in copper deposits. The original copper minerals react with groundwater to form blue and, as with conichalcite, bright green crusts and coatings.
