Nördlinger Ries: Voted a Geoheritage!

The International Commission on Geoheritage has selected the Nördlinger Ries as an international geoheritage site. This award is given to special geological regions.

The Nördlinger Ries is considered to be one of the best preserved impact craters in the world. Many different impact structures can be seen.

In addition to the Nördlinger Ries, the following geological regions in Germany have also been selected as international geoheritage sites: Scheibenberg, Solnhofener Plattenkalk, Vulkaneifel and Grube Messel.
