Raman microscope
In Raman spectroscopy, the matter (e.g. minerals, liquids) to be examined is irradiated with monochromatic light. This is typically a laser. From the spectrum obtained, conclusions can be drawn about the substance under investigation, similar to the spectrum of infrared spectroscopy. In the Mineralogical State Collection a Horiba Jobin Yvon XploRa One is used. This method allows the investigation of specimens with almost no destruction. Therefore, it is frequently used to investigate minerals, gems, meteorits but also plastic.
